Lorraine, I was saddened to hear of your dads passing, every memory I have of your dad always ends with a smile on my face. Whether we were at the lake or just at the house, he was always kind, thoughtful and I enjoyed his great sense of humour. He accepted people for who they were and made them feel at home. A life lesson I learnt much to late. My sincerest condolences to you, your mom (let her know she still makes the best corn relish I’ve ever tasted) and the rest of the family. Chris

There are no words to say how very much I will miss Bob. He was always there for me and the kids. He supported me through the bad times and laughed with me in the good times. On Friday nights he had a much appreciated glass of wine ready for me when I arrived at the trailer. Bob and Barb considered me their other daughter and I consider that an incredible honour. Bob(Dad) I will think of you often and smile and laugh from all of the wonderful memories. Love Terry

My Uncle Bob, a happy, warm hearted, loving man! Because of a not very large age difference Uncle Bob was like an older brother when I was growing up. Our farms were very close together so I saw him on a weekly basis, at the least. I learned to ride a bike on Uncle Bob's old rattletrap of a bike, that he had passed down to my brother Stan. In my adult years I didn't see him nearly as frequently, but when I did the greeting was always the same. An ear to ear smile, a bear hug, some catch-up chat and then a joke or two or three! He was always a tease and a jokester. R.I.P. Uncle Bob, Heaven has a new jokester!

So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was a great friend of our family. I remember spending time as a child at Lovesick Lake with the Hurlbert's. I have very fond memories of Bob coaching my hockey team in Cannington. He always had positive things to say and really helped my confidence as a player. I now coach my son's team and think of Bob often. God bless.

Shirley Sandford posted a condolence
Sunday, January 5, 2014
Shirley Sandford (nee Brethour) and her family (Judith, Marilyn & Joshua, Mary Ellen & Barry) are saddened to hear of Bob's passing. Living in British Columbia we keenly feel the physical separation, but we are comforted by our shared love and remembrances of a life well lived. We cherish the wonderful lifetime of memories we have of Shirley's sister Barb and Bob and their family. Bob: a devoted and loving family man, quick to laugh, always welcoming, not to mention great fun and a passionate lover of country music. We remember his excitement and joy with the birth of each of his children and grandchildren. Our families were close knit and our history closely entwined - Shirley and Barb becoming sisters, Judith and Marilyn as flower girls at their wedding (and Mary Ellen an honorary attendant!), the Hurlbert and the Sandford kids playing together with frequent sleepovers - with Bob always in the middle of the fun and Barb creating wonderful meals. We send our love and and support for Barb and her family at this most difficult time. Love Shirley, Judith, Marilyn, Mary Ellen and Joshua and Barry

The true test of a man's character is the love he spreads to all. Those traits are evident in how he loved his family and how his family learned from him. I see through his love and those he loved that his character was true, honest and sincere. His love is seen clearly living forever through his legacy of a wonderful family with those same traits, love, honesty and sincerity. May we offer our condolences to you all at your loss.
