It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Elda Norene Stokes on Wednesday September 20, 2023 at Lakeview Manor in Beaverton with her daughter Cheryl by her side. Elda was the beloved wife of Ted Stokes for 41 years. Dear Mom of Larry Wakelin (Ann), Cheryl Hill (predeceased Ron), Catherine McIntyre (predeceased Wayne), David Wakelin (Ann). Loving Grandma of Valerie Lougheed (Jesse), Brian Wakelin (Sarah), Ryan Hill (Megen), Todd Hill (Karrie), Stephen McIntyre (Christina), Jeffery McIntyre, Kristin Mitchell (Jeremy), Beverly McDonald (Brian), Alicia Harper. G.G. of Lincoln, Lexus, Madison, Kailyn, Landon, Logan, Ethan, Hanna, Hailey, Bailey, Wade, Ethan, Paige, Aurora, and Delaney. Predeceased by parents William and Theresa Kay, brother Glen, sister Shirley, father of her children Ray Wakelin. Survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Kay. Sadly missed by Step-Children Pennie (Sid), Michael (Janet), and Kelli (Ken), and her step-grandchildren; Ashley, Shannon, Darren, Emily, Kevin, Marie, Cody, Jessie, Sandy, Sharleen, Brooklyn, and their families. Elda will be fondly remembered by all of her nieces and nephews.

 

Elda loved to dance, and was a member of the Seniors Old Tyme Dancers for many years. A special thank you to all the staff on Blue Heron Lane at Lakeview Manor, you are truly special people.

 

Elda’s wishes were to be cremated. There will be a private family service at Cedar Vale Cemetery, Cannington at a later date. Private arrangements have been entrusted to the THORNE FUNERAL HOME, 109 Laidlaw Street South in Cannington (705-432-2672). If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
