Aunt Freda was the love of Lornes life as he was hers. Their weekly lunch dates to Tim Hortons and regular outings along with the love and bond they shared over the years was truly inspiring. He was a very kind and caring man. He will be greatly missed.

I have many fond memories growing up and visiting Grandpa Lorne in Port Bolster - we even lived there for a stint in 2007! Lorne had a true green thumb and always had the biggest gardens. My middle name is Lorne, named after him, and it is a constant reminder for me of the kind and thoughtful man he was; I will try my best to carry that forward. May you rest in peace Grandpa

My Best memories were with Uncle Lorne at the farm! All of us kids were so excited to be there, Christmas was so Beautiful, All the family would be there, we would ride our snowmobiles out to the back cut down our own trees enjoyed with some hot chocolate, then us kids would sneak into the barn and ride his pigs. Then we would go for dinner and smell pretty bad and Uncle Lorne would laugh. From the pig roasts and the horses and cows I learned alot from My Uncle Lorne. He taught me so much, how to drive a tractor how to look after pigs and cows, how to grow gardens and how I enjoyed the hunting camp listening to the wolves at night Wonderful Memories of them all. Truly a Strong ,Kind Hearted Wonderful Man. He was not only my Uncle but like my second dad. I will sadly miss our times together. Love you always, never forgotten always in our hearts. Lori Nielsen

You can not replace your own father who has passed on but Lorne more than filled that role through the years with Flora and those with Freda.
He shared his wisdom gained in a life of many challenges. His little laugh will be ever missed. No longer will he struggle with his aches and pains. He longed for the peace that is his now and I wish forevermore.

I remember helping Lorne a few times on his farm. Hay baling was something that was tough for a young city-born kid from England, but I tried nonetheless. I recall a particularly hot day on his farm, and a field of hay bales waiting to be loaded on a wagon. I struggled with this tough job, but Lorne easily handled the heavy bales with a pitch fork. His physical strength was astounding to me. Years of labouring on a farm had toughened him…no need for a membership at a fancy gym.
I think the farm was what Lorne missed the most in his later days.
Enjoy the farm up above Lorne. I’m sure God will appreciate your help in his beautiful fields and gardens.
